Is there any wilderness left in Sweden? And what does the landscape look like in the places furthest removed from roads and hiking trails? Filmmaker Johan Granstrand and wilderness guide Sebastian Fall ask themselves these questions as they leave behind maps, GPS devices, and phones, venturing into the ancient mountain forests of Ultevis to experience what may well be Sweden’s last true wilderness. Yet, the line between human traces and untouched nature proves harder to draw than they imagined, and true wilderness turns out to be less a place to visit than a state of mind to enter.
